What will you see when I’m being scanned?

Depending on my position in my mummy’s tummy, you may see me moving around, changing position, sucking my thumb, wriggling fingers and toes, and sometimes kicking and stretching. In a 4D scan, you may see my facial expressions, blinking, yawning, and smiling. Depending on my age, you can also see my hands and feet, whether it takes after mummy or daddy.

What is 4D?

A 4D ultrasound indicates the difference between still photography (3D) and video. With this innovative technology, the baby’s 3D image is continuously updated, and you can watch the live action of your baby for the first time. This can be a baby smile, sucking its thumb, yawning, and stretching.

Is it safe for me and my baby?

In over 35 years of research, ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to either mother or baby. Ultrasound scanning of all pregnancies is now standard practice in hospitals utilizing 2D scans. Although the same ultrasound intensity is used for 2D/3D/4D scanning but 3D/4D ultrasound utilizes low-frequency sound waves to look inside the body. There is no radiation. Ultrasound scans do not raise body temperature/amniotic temperature. No adverse health impacts have been reported.

What is the best time for a 3D/4D scan?

We recommend having a scan performed between the 20th and 34th week of the pregnancy. However, excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime after about 22 weeks of pregnancy. Features develop further in the weeks as the baby starts putting on fat. Chubby cheeks and chins can be seen around 26-30 weeks.

How can I have a good-quality scan?

To get good images, drink adequate amounts of water (32 ounces/day) for 1-2 weeks before the appointment. This is to ensure there is a sufficient amount of amniotic fluid around the fetus. Hydration can significantly improve the clarity of an ultrasound. We will try our best to get the best baby images possible. Although, drinking a lot of water just before the 3D ultrasound appointment does not help to have more explicit 3D ultrasound images.

What if I don’t want to know the gender of my baby?

Indeed, you just let us know about your decision, and we will honor it. It is optional and included in all our 3D/4D packages. Gender assessment will not be unveiled without parental consent.

Can I have a scan if I am expecting twins?

Indeed. The only difference is that the scan will take longer. Having both babies in the same image area is not usually possible.

Can I bring my family and friends?

Absolutely! This is truly a family affair, and we can easily accommodate up to 6-10 additional people to share this magical experience with you. Our beautifully designed ultrasound viewing room has sofas and a wall-mounted large-screen TV to enhance the viewing experience of the baby. A separate designated area for toddlers is also available for your convenience.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, appointments are necessary for our services. It will give you peace of mind, and we allocate our time for your scan. We don’t have a cancellation fee. It is highly appreciable if you notify us in advance so we can accommodate others.
